it take to get the results

What
information do I need to provide to order a
criminal record report? |
| |
You’ll need the person’s name and date of

Do I need
permission from an applicant or individual to
perform a criminal records
search? |
| |
In
many states, criminal history information is
considered public records and is available
without permission from the individual on whom
you are seeking information. However, it is the
policy of American DataSearch that, permission be obtained from the
individual prior to obtaining criminal history
information for tenant and pre-employment
screening purposes. In all cases, a signed
authorization MUST be obtained from an
individual prior to obtaining credit history
information. This applies to both tenant
screening and pre-employment background
screening applicants.

What
information is private and what information is
public? |
| |
Many people think that their Social
Security Number is private information and are
surprised to find out that this is considered
“public record” information. Laws
and policies are constantly changing and many
states are making access to social security
numbers unavailable without prior registration
with the specific agency. However, the fact
remains that information about your address,
address history, property ownership,
vehicle ownership, liens, bankruptcy filings,
judgment, and court system records are available
without any specific reason for obtaining the
information. Other financial information, such
as that found in credit reports fall within the
“private records” category and there are legal
penalties for accessing this type of information
without your permission. For specific
information, contact us for details.
